Sule Pagoda

This is the most prominent stupa in Yangon's town center.

Today it is the center of a "round about", opposite is a mosque and people say it's 2000 years old but they always say such things and never have evidence for it.

Today they want money from the tourists to visit the structure. This is a octagonal stupa, partly covered with gold sheets and 48 meters height, legends tell about the enshrinement of a hair given by Buddha.

When the British rebuilt Yangon in the middle of the 19th century the pagoda was designated as the center. Actually there is nothing interesting inside, instead of walking into the shrine move a bit towards the Shangri-La Hotel, there is bridge for pedestrians which is an ideal place to make some great shots of it.

The environment here also shows very clear that there is not any tension between Buddhist and Muslims since both religions are well represented right here and everywhere, there is no tension of any kind.

Sule Pagoda and Bismillah Mosque in the city center

All these insinuations of the UN and Arab countries against the Buddhists are unmask here as a lie. This problems were local problems in Rakhine State triggered by illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
