The most famous waterfront of the country is Nagpali on the Bay of Bengal in Rakhine State.
This also has something to do with the notorious bad infrastructure since there is the only airport near a beach area and to avoid the road travel mess traveler take the small aircraft which leave Yangon Airport several time a day for this destination.
There are two more top seafronts west of Yangon which is Chaungtha and Ngwe Saung Beach. The first is the most popular with the locals of the former capital because there are plenty of low prices resorts. Actually there is only one excellent modern hotel there that's the "Max Hotel". This two waterfronts can only be accessed from Yangon by road travel which makes it quite cumbersome since the surface is not very good..
The other high end properties are at Ngwe Saung.
One of the highlights is the color of the sand which has an amazing silver shade which gives the name it translates to "Silver Beach". Sometimes during the year they have a problem with Jellyfish so when you book check if they are not around.
There are some buses from Yangon capital every day which take over 6 hours and you have to put your bones together afterwards. So if you travel there make sure the hotel does the transportation.
Fly away to Ngapali Beach but it is also possible to reach the destination by road which is not easy at all, it's again the infrastructure and road condition.
