Irrawaddy at Bagan

The lazy and muddy water coming from the north passing, among other, Mandalay and Bagan.

This is a cruise between two “history heavyweight” cities, it could be a real highlight of any holiday in Myanmar. Now what makes it a bit difficult? It’s quite expensive since this is directed to foreigners and then prices rise exponential, this trip is not a long but an incredible one.

Irrawaddy River at Bagan with sail boat

Enjoy the vista from the riverside into the scenery, villages, traffic and people. The journey includes a stopover at a pretty village with some cultural program, cynics tell third world meets western luxury but that’s the way it is and everyone benefits from.

Several cruise operators offer this trip with different timetables.

Thousands of tourists make this cruise every year and have a good time with a touch of culture, highlights are always the same, local peoples, pagodas and temples, partying and shopping.

Irrawaddy River Cruise Local Style

The brown water passing in front of the cabin windows, sometimes it is not possible not recognizing the banks because the waterbed is very large.

The "Road to Mandalay"

is probably the top cruiser which is run by the "Orient Express” luxurious and expensive. A top notch float in high comfort, this vessel was operated on the river Rhine before.
